I design research to fit the question, not the other way around.

My strengths are in designing research to diagnose and fix root causes, not just treat symptoms. There is pressure for teams to optimize for speed — shipping fixes quickly and often, before fully understanding what's causing the problems. I help teams slow down at the right moment: identify where the problem is occurring, pinpoint the why, and diagnose the true cause. Only then do we move to designing the right solution. Twenty+ years of doing this across Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta Reality Labs Research, and two Berlin startups.

“Speed only measures rate of movement. It says nothing about direction. Velocity is speed with direction. Research provides the direction.”
